Women In Gousto
8th March is International Women’s Day, a chance to celebrate the strength of women around the world and to recognise how massively important it is for us all to strive for equality.
It’s an issue that means a great amount to us at Gousto. Last year, our founder Timo wrote a post on LinkedIn called ‘Why I Care About Equality‘, explaining why it’s so important to him that businesses and their leaders champion the value of equality.
To mark International Women’s Day today, Rina L Einy came to speak to the entire team at the Gousto HQ about equality in businesses. Rina is an Olympian and former GB tennis player who is one of the co-founders of a manufacturing business who make quality clothes from hugely respected brands from Hugo Boss to Barbour.
Today, we wanted to share a little more about just a few of the wonderful women who make up the Gousto team. We asked Ava, Sally, Mia, Jimena and Alice a few questions about who they are and what they do below – read their answers below:

What do you do at Gousto?
I’m a recipe developer. I invent a handful of recipes each week, trial them and then style and shoot them.
What does a normal day look like for you?
The first thing I do when I come to work is check my emails and have a think about what I want to cook that day. Once I’ve figured out what recipe I want to create, I cook it and collect feedback from my colleagues. Provided everyone likes it, I formalise the recipe by re-cooking it, writing it and shooting the individual steps.
Why did you choose to work at Gousto?
I love food and knew that I needed to cook for a living to be happy. Gousto is all about passion for cooking and sharing that passion with as many people as possible. Fortunately, we’re also still growing really quickly which makes me feel like I’m able to make an impact as an individual contributor.

Scarlett O’Hara, the lead woman in Margret Mitchell’s Gone With The Wind who famously concluded, ‘After all, tomorrow is another day.’ Scarlett is terribly spoilt and selfish, but when it comes down to it she works tirelessly, shows true loyalty and never gives up. If I had Scarlett’s determination and positive attitude, life could throw anything it wanted at me.

People Operations Manager. I manage Gousto HQ and everything that goes behind the scenes, I support the Gousto team with the tools they need to do and enjoy their jobs – and let’s not forget organisation of the best team parties!
I also manage all HR activities and the hiring process while helping Gousto to be compliant with UK laws.
What does a normal day look like for you?
No day is like the other, there’s always new challenges, and the pace is very energetic. Lots of laughing out loud….that always makes my day.
Why did you choose to work at Gousto?
Because Gousto makes people’s lives better, we help families to be together, to cook and eat together… I think nowadays that is something that’s less and less common. Gousto is what both old and new generations needs – to go back to basics, to values, to communication, to family, to LOVE.
If you could invite any 3 women (past, present or fictional) to a dinner party, who would you choose?
My grandma (dad’s side) because I never met her and everyone always said how amazing and talented she was, and how alike we look. She died when my dad was 5 years old, so I’d have loved for him to have a mum, he would have suffered less in life, and her love would have made him softer and happier.
My best friend from Argentina, Jose, because when I’m with her the conversation never ends and is deep and meaningful. Her company fulfils my soul.
With Frida Kahlo in her blue house in Mexico City. I would beg her to tell me all her stories…I found her fascinating, as strong as fragile, as feminine as masculine. To be who she was in her time was remarkable.
What recipe best describes you?
An Argentinean BBQ! Fire, tenderness, intense flavours…talking about it makes me hungry!
Who is one of your role models, and why?
We can learn from everyone, the more different they are to us the better. Kind hearts and people that put themselves in other people’s shoes are things I admire a lot.
