These Tabasco truffles will melt the coldest of hearts
Throw out the rulebook this Valentine’s Day because I’ve got a spicy proposal that’ll melt even the coldest of hearts. These velvety Tabasco-laced chocolate truffles will set your night on fire.
Coming together with just three simple ingredients – silky smooth dark chocolate, double cream, and a dash of tabasco – these spicy delights are luxurious enough to satisfy your inner chocolatier. Package them up in a kitsch heart-shaped box and you’ll be celebrating your love for under a fiver.

Tabasco Love Truffles
Makes 20 truffles

Total time 35 minutes
Ingredients
200g dark chocolate
120 ml double cream
1 – 2 tsp Tabasco
100g icing sugar
1 – 2 drops of red or pink food colouring
Step 1 In a medium-sized saucepan add your cream and warm it over low heat. Top tip: Warm it up slowly so it doesn’t boil.
Step 2 Break your chocolate into small pieces and add it to the cream with your Tabasco. Stir everything together with a spatula until the chocolate is completely melted.
Step 3 Pour the mixture into a heat-proof bowl and place it in the fridge to firm up.
Step 4 While your truffle mix is chilling in the fridge, it’s time to make your pink icing sugar. In a small bowl, sift in your icing sugar, then add a few drops of food colouring. Mix it together till the colour looks even, it might clump together but keep mixing until it’s back to a powdery consistency.
Step 5 Time to make your truffles. Roll small scoops of chocolate mixture into 20 even balls. Coat each ball in pink sugar (you can sprinkle it too), put your truffles in a parchment-lined plastic box, and chill in the fridge or somewhere cool.
