This chutney loaded cheese will float your goat
Attention all cheese lovers. Put the cheddar down. This chutney-loaded goat’s cheese yule log is about to take your Christmas to the next level.
Picture this. The turkey’s in the oven and you’ve got two hours on the clock. The family are en route and the kids are already getting peckish. You’ve already opened a bottle of red (perks of the cook) and you’ve got a matter of minutes to prepare your appetizers. What do you do?
Enter the chutney-loaded goat’s cheese yule log. Tangy, creamy cheese smothered with lashings of sweet fig and onion chutney, topped off with crunchy walnuts and a sprinkle of chives. Picture perfect in just 15 minutes, hungry mouths won’t be left waiting for very long. Pair with your crackers of choice and the rest of that red (if there’s any left).
Chutney Loaded Goat’s Cheese
Prep time 10 mins
Total time 15 mins
100g fig chutney
1 goat’s cheese log
1 red onion
1 tbsp olive oil
25g walnuts
5g chives
Step 1 Finely slice your onion. Fry in a little vegetable olive oil until golden.
Step 2 Turn off the heat and add your fig chutney with a few tablespoons of water to loosen the mixture. Leave to cool slightly.
Step 3 In a clean, dry frying pan, toast your walnuts. Leave to cool.
Step 4 Finely slice your chives and get ready to assemble. Pop the goat’s cheese on a serving platter and top with your fig and onion chutney. Sprinkle with your walnuts and finish with chopped chives.
