It’s official! Gousto is now a B Corp™. We’ve joined a global community of businesses that are dedicated to building a better world.

Getting here was tough to say the least (the application is rigorous). We think it’s worth it though, as a B Corp badge doesn’t just mean we meet the highest environmental and social standards, but also commits us to keeping these high standards up for the long haul.

If you’d like to know a bit more about how we got certified, here are a few things we’ve done that we’re really proud of.

Back in May, we announced that a Gousto box a week could save the UK 10.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions a year. That lowers your carbon footprint by a whopping 23% compared to the same shop at a traditional supermarket.

How? By planning and pre-portioning all our ingredients, we’ve reduced food waste to almost zero in our factories, and in your home. Our boxes are also filled with as much British meat and produce as we can get our hands on.

Leaving the world better off doesn’t stop with food waste. The happiness and health of our communities is a key part of our mission too. That’s why whether you’re a seasoned chef or just starting out, Gousto provides the freshest ingredients so you can cook healthy, irresistible meals.

COVID-19’s effects were a shock to us all. To speed up recovery, we launched our Food Finder and Cookstarter campaigns, and worked with DEFRA, to help support people and independent restaurants across the UK.

No one should ever experience hunger, which is why we also work closely with our charity partners at FareShare to send undelivered food to those who need it.

From our factories to our Head Office, our people are what make us great.  To make sure our team are always happy, healthy and feeling tip-top, we signed up to become a Real Living Wage employer. At the start of January 2021, every full-time employee was also given the chance to become a shareholder.

We’re also stamping out unsustainable practices in our supply chain, by building close relationships with all our suppliers, big and small, and making sure they sign up to our strict Supplier Code of Conduct.

Part of something bigger

Becoming a B Corp is a massive step, and we couldn’t have done it without our customers’ incredible feedback and support.

Getting certified also gives us the opportunity to work with other passionate B Corp businesses. Together we can fight climate change, and make the world a fairer place for everyone.
