Hot Cross Bun Breakfast Sarnie
Forget your bacon butties, this has got to be the ultimate Easter brekkie. Imagine a classic, sticky-sweet Hot Cross Bun paired with salty bacon and a luscious runny egg yolk. Divine. If you love American-style waffles and fried chicken or pancakes and bacon then this one’s for you.
Hot Cross Bun Breakfast Sarnie
Serves 2
Total Time 20 minutes
Ingredients
2 eggs
2 rashers streaky bacon
2 hot cross buns
2 tsp butter
2 tsp oil
Brown sauce (optional)
Step one Slice your hot cross buns in half and toast them.
Step two Place the streaky bacon on a tray and cook under the grill on medium heat until crispy 10 – 15 mins.
Step three Pour two teaspoons of oil into a frying pan, and leave for a minute to get hot before adding your (this helps crisp up the edges). Cook your eggs until the white is no longer clear and the edges are golden brown and crispy.
Step four Butter your hot cross buns and pile them high with bacon, top with your crispy egg and a dollop of brown sauce.
