Goustobury: How To Throw a Mini Garden Festival
There might be no Glastonbury this weekend, but as festival lovers ourselves, we’re not letting that stop us from blasting the tunes. The sun is shining, the great outdoors is calling, and we’re recreating the spirit of a true English festival with Gousto-bury 2020. Here’s how you can too.
First, grab your flower crowns and fairy lights, and pop on this Spotify playlist. Then, like the food stalls at Glasto, peruse our Gousto-bury inspired recipes for down-and-dirty burgers, filthy food truck favourites and refreshing frozen treats to get you in the music mood. Plus, we’ve added some styling tips so you can create the perfect festival plate.
Burgers
Ultimate Cheeseburger with Bacon and Rosemary Fries
Keep the festival spirit alive with this tasty cheeseburger, stacked high with crispy bacon, oozy melted cheese and tangy burger sauce in buttery brioche buns. Complete with rosemary fries on the side, and you’ll have a classic festival favourite: minus the long queues.
Introducing the ULTIMATE vegan burger. Pile your plant-based brioche buns high with a vegan patty (try Gousto’s for their famous extra juicy vegan patty), melty vegan cheese, a smoky crispy potato rösti, and balsamic onions. Legendary!
Festival Food Styling Tip:
Forget slaving over a hot grill and create a ‘build-your-own-burger’ bar. You can’t go wrong with a burger bar, and they are seriously easy to set up right in your own garden. Fill a few bowls with classic burger toppings like cheese, onion, pickles and ketchup, then let your festival guests create their own personalised burger.
Kebab
Baharat Lamb Kebabs with Red Pepper Hummus
Rich, spicy lamb kebabs, Somerset cider and sunshine – what could be better? This tasty lamb dish is packed full of Middle Eastern spice, served with fragrant bulgar wheat and a delicious red pepper hummus.
Festival Food Styling Tip:
A 30 second way to dress up your hummus bowl and impress your party guests, is to top it with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of cayenne powder. As this red pepper hummus is so delicious, why not double the recipe and keep half in the fridge for a healthy snack later in the week?
This quick and easy Mediterranean dish is great for a festival-themed party. Serve with greek salad and tangy caper mayo, on top of warm flatbreads. Simply delicious!
Festival Food Styling Tip:
If you’re rustling up these fish gyros, make your life easier by creating a toppings board. Arrange all of your toppings on a wooden chopping board and simply bring out the fish and warm naan breads when they’re ready. Your festival guests can enjoy creating their own gyros, using whatever toppings they love.
Other Savoury
Loaded Meat Free Chilli Nachos
Looking for a veggie option? This meat-free recipe is the perfect festival solution. Prepped in just 10 minutes, you’ll pile tortilla wraps with meatless mince chilli and fresh tomato salsa for and be digging in in no time.
Festival Food Styling Tip:
Serve up these nachos directly from the baking tray rather that worry about dishing them up per person. Load up the sour cream and guac, and get stuck into a messy feast.
Dessert:
Three Cocktail inspired ice lollies
These cocktail-inspired lollies have a dash of something a little stronger, to get you into the festival ‘spirit’. Not a drinker? We’ve got mouthwatering mocktail lollies in there too.
Festival Food Styling Tip:
Make these well in advance so you’re not rushing around trying to serve scoops of ice cream on a hot day – if you can, leave the ice lollies to freeze overnight. Try serving the lollies in a bowl of ice so you can avoid them melting into a sticky mess as soon as you take them out of the freezer.
